Thank you for getting in touch regarding the COVID-19 Vaccine. Please let me explain how our practice is running the vaccine clinics.

Due to the logistics of delivery and characteristics of the vaccines, the service needs to be delivered at scale. The current model for delivery is through groups of practices working together, through our PCN group (our PCN group has 7 GP practices within it). Due to the programme being delivered at scale we have assigned Waters Meeting Health Centre in Bolton as our vaccine site. Two practices within our PCN has agreed to organise and administer the vaccine and run the clinics and our behalf as well as the other GP practices.

Due to the clinics being organised this way we have no access to the information of dates and times patients have been allocated, so we are unable to help with this information. We also have no control over the deliveries of the vaccines as NHSE will arrange logistics of deliveries to the designated sites.

Practices within Bolton are all at different stages, as all the vaccine clinics are being ran differently. For instance, practices could operate a rota using their team to immunise or employ a dedicated team to do this on their behalf of all the practices. There could also be getting different supply deliveries. So this may explain why some people have been contacted before others.

  • Home visits for our housebound are being arranged and are currently being contacted.
  • Allergy patients, these are also being contacted as these group of patients will need to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.

As we understand your frustration, please try not to contact the surgery regarding the vaccine, as this may prevent an unwell patient getting through on the phone.

Update as of 15.02.2021: - There is now a mobile telephone for the COVID-19 vaccination clinics that you can use if they have any queries or would like to book an appointment, you can only book if you are in the relevant group at that time.

The telephone number for this is 07542 430550 and the phone line will be operated Monday-Friday between 12pm-4pm, starting from Monday 15th February.

We have also started using Accubook, this enables patients to make their own appointments. If you receive a text message asking to click on a link to book your appointment this is a new way for you to request an appointment.

Please do not go any further with the link, if at any point it requests payment/bank details. This will be a scam, NHS does not ask any patients to pay for their treatment. We are currently contacting our Group 9 patients. PLEASE don't worry if you are in any of the other groups and still haven't received an invite. We are still re-sending invites to the patients left in the above groups 8-1 to ensure that everyone isn’t missed.

Please be aware that the appointments are all depending on the supply of the vaccines.
